As I travel around Sussex, I see the South Downs in all lights and weathers. There are several Iron Age hill forts on the Downs and they command a great view over the surrounding landscape. I have made several sketching trips to the hill forts at Cissbury, Chanctonbury and Highdown and no doubt will make several more.
I have made work using both paint and print from these sketches.
There are also several “orphan” churches - churches which have lost their villages - along the Downs, which are also of interest. Some of these churches are much loved and have their own Friends groups. Idsworth is one of these.
